Job description

Job Summary:

The Integrated Fire and Security Solutions Fort Myers, FL branch is seeking a skilled Access Control Technician to join our team! This role involves the service of Access Control and security systems while ensuring compliance with industry codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage Access Control systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service, program, and troubleshoot access control systems, including controllers, readers, door hardware, power supplies, and lowvoltage wiring.
  • Read and update system drawings, wiring diagrams, and asbuilt documentation.
  • Configure system software, user permissions, schedules, and integrations with video or intrusion systems.
  • Verify materials, equipment, and device placement for accuracy before installation.
  • Identify scope gaps or field changes and communicate them to leadership.
  • Ensure quality and code compliance, including NEC and applicable NFPA standards.
  • Perform system testing, device validation, and troubleshooting to ensure full functionality.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, GC, subcontractors, and clients for smooth project execution.
  • Stay current on emerging access control technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience in lowvoltage or electronic security service/installation, with handson access control experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of access control equipment and door hardware.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organization, and timemanagement skills.
  • Proficiency with laptops, mobile tools, and system programming software.
  • Ability to obtain required Florida lowvoltage/security certifications (FASA/BASA if applicable).
  • Understanding of NEC requirements and general lowvoltage standards.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school certification or associate degree in electronics, IT, or related field.
  • Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, AMAG, Software House, Brivo, etc.).
  • Experience integrating access control with video, intrusion, or networked security systems.
