SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT TEACHER (Literacy Intervention) - STRUTHERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

Summary: This is a one year grant funded position (Annual Renewal Contingent Upon Grant Funding)

The Struthers City School District is seeking a qualified educator to serve as a Supplemental Support Teacher (Literacy Intervention) through a grant-funded school improvement initiative. This position is designed to provide targeted supplemental literacy intervention to students in grades K4 with a focus on improving literacy outcomes through evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading.

The Supplemental Support Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, intervention staff, special education staff, and administrators to provide intensive literacy instruction, monitor student progress, and implement evidence-based interventions designed to accelerate reading achievement. This position provides supplemental instructional services beyond core classroom instruction and required special education services and supports the district's school improvement goals.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a current valid Ohio Early Childhood License K-5 or PK-3.
  2. Must have completed the Ohio Department of Education Science of Reading professional learning modules.

In addition, candidates must have completed one of the following:

  • LETRS Training (Volumes 1 and 2)
  • Associate Level Orton-Gillingham Training
  • Reading Endorsement (#059902) for PreK12 listed on an Ohio teaching license or certificate
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Reading or Literacy (degree title, major, specialization, or concentration includes "Reading" or "Literacy")
  • Passing score on the Ohio Foundations of Reading Assessment aligned to Ohio Reading Competencies
  1. Must have experience implementing evidence-based instruction aligned to the Science of Reading.
  2. Must have knowledge of Ohio's Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
  3. Must have elementary teaching experience in reading/language arts.
  4. Must be able to work cooperatively in an inclusion setting.
  5. Must have experience analyzing literacy assessment data to develop targeted interventions.
  6. Must have a clean and current BCI and FBI check.
