POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEWAdministrative work at Lang/NSSR is collaborative, based on a premise of teamwork, and is student-centered. The Manager of Academic Planning supports curriculum building for the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts (Lang) and The New School for Social Research (NSSR) within the Academic Planning and Curriculum Hub. The Manager works with the colleges' academic leadership, faculty, and administrative teams and reports to the Associate Director of Academic Planning.
CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Support the course planning process to ensure the successful implementation of curriculum:
- Manage and monitor course enrollments throughout the registration process.
- Provide strategic recommendations for course additions and cancellations when necessary.
- Oversee, track, and efficiently resolve student requests related to course registration; collaborate with Advising with respect to new and continuing student enrollment.
- Facilitate communication within programs to inform students, faculty, and staff about curricular developments, policy changes, and registration matters.
- Actively engage with the Director of Academic Planning to assure instructional spaces are designed to adequately accommodate courses, including attributes (i.e., software, hardware, furniture, and adjacencies, etc.; serve as point-person on room scheduling matters for academic programs.
- Work in concert with Associate Dean of Part-Time Faculty Affairs and Associate Dean of Administrative Faculty Affairs to assure part-time faculty obligations are realized for schools; support processes to identify need for and proper placement of Teaching Assistants and Teaching Fellows; assure placement for Full-Time Faculty.
- Supervise and provide ongoing oversight in the production, completion, submission, proofing and revising of key documentation for classes in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
- Create and maintain shared schedule documentation containing information including, but not limited to, overall curricular program offerings, faculty assignments, course meeting days and times, and room assignments.
- Create and maintain shared curricular documentation containing information including, but not limited to, course pedagogy, course descriptions, co-and prerequisite information, room-type preferences, adjacencies, seat reservations, and course restrictions.
- Provide regular college-wide curricular data reports that highlight key factors such as enrollment trends, cross registration, faculty and space utilization, and other reports as requested.
- Support part-time faculty (PTF) affairs to facilitate compliance with UAW-ACT Local 7902 collective bargaining agreement and academic planning processes: Manage and update PTF data needed for overall academic planning cycle.
- Develop and complete PTF reports necessary for both college-wide curriculum planning purposes and those requested by central University offices.
- Perform additional tasks as required in support of the Academic Planning and Curriculum Hub and the overall operations of the College.
- Bachelor's Degree with related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, summarize, and draw conclusions from large datasets.
- High level of computer proficiency in Google Drive, MS Office, and online database systems; strong knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software is essential.
- Ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, and follow through on multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, speed and poise.
- Ability to communicate well with different populations at the University including faculty, students, and staff.
- Excellent task-management, organizational, and inter-personal/service skills.
- Ability to problem solve and take initiative.
- Commitment to discretion when working with private and protected data.
- Master's degree.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in Banner, Tableau, Degreeworks, and WorkDay and the ability to pull and prepare reports out of these systems.
This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee.
SALARY RANGE$70,000 - $73,000 per annum
