Job description

YMCA Gymnastics Coaches manage team practices for their assigned competitive levels for children from 4 to 17 years of age. Coaches ensure team practices are run safely, consistently, efficiently and effectively. Coaches work with gymnasts, hands-on, and ensure that team gymnasts advance at appropriate levels and are trained and prepared competitions.

Essential functions and responsibilities includes, but not limited to:

  • Works closely with the Gymnastics Director, and other coaches, to attain the best results for the team and individuals.
  • Develops weekly lesson plans to assist in program development and individual progression of skills.
  • Instruct participants in USAG compulsory routines on Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, Vault.
  • Observe participants andcommunicate ways to improvetechniques learned.
  • Communicate effectively with youth of varying ages.
  • Travels and attends weekend competitions with the team gymnasts.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations and the use of gymnastics equipment.

  • Completes all job related and other training's as required.

Additional certifications may be required based on the coaching level. Certifications could include a Certified AAU Athletic member, registered with the state of Florida, USAG Safety Certification and USAG Professional Member.
