Job description

Assists in delivering chaplaincy care to patients, their loved ones and staff, as appropriate. Ensures religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met in assigned areas.

Job Responsibility

  • Assists in delivering and arranging appropriate chaplaincy care to patients, residents, their loved ones and staff in specific areas of the hospital or to particular faith groups, as assigned.
  • Responds to requests for chaplaincy care in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the offering of worship opportunities.
  • Participates in the meeting of ritual and sacramental needs.
  • Participates in administrative procedures for the department in accordance with institutional policy.
  • Assists in the coordination of clergy and pastoral visitors from the religious community.
  • Maintains records of chaplaincy activities to communicate with other members of the department and report to department/institution.
  • Participates in department's plan for continuous quality improvement.
  • Respond to patient referrals requesting a Rabbi.
  • Operates with direct guidance and work assignments are generally straightforward and of moderate complexity.
  • Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Rabbinical Ordination from a nationally recognized religious institution.
