THIS IS A W2 18+ MO CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

MAX RATE IS $20HR


The R&D Laboratory Technician will provide support to the Catalyst Scale-Up Research & Development team. This role supports multiple aspects of catalyst development and requires a high degree of independence, initiative, attention to detail, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory operations, catalyst preparation and testing, equipment maintenance, and inventory management while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety procedures, operating disciplines, and laboratory best practices to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and test catalysts under the direction of R&D team members.
  • Safely sample and analyze catalysts, catalyst components, and raw materials.
  • Handle air- and moisture-sensitive materials using appropriate techniques and equipment, including:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Inert atmosphere glove boxes
    • Nitrogen-purged systems
  • Coordinate and prepare samples for shipment.
  • Manage and dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with applicable environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain catalyst, ligand, intermediate, and gas cylinder inventories.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance activities, including:
    • Glove box maintenance
    • Vacuum system maintenance
    • Gas cylinder repairs and upkeep
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory-scale reactors and related equipment.
  • Support general laboratory organization and housekeeping activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • 1-2 years of laboratory, industrial, chemical, maintenance, or related technical experience.
  • Background in chemistry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, research, laboratory, or other technical environments.
  • Experience working in safety-focused environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or maintenance experience preferred.

Education

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Process Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another science-related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience working with or operating the following equipment is highly desirable:

  • Glove boxes
  • Vacuum pumps
  • Laboratory chemical apparatus
  • Laboratory reactors
  • Wet chemistry equipment
  • Chemical processing equipment

Work Schedule

Flexible scheduling options are available:

Option 1

  • 5 days per week
  • 8-hour workdays

Option 2

  • Four 9-hour workdays
  • One 4-hour workday (typically Friday)

Alternative scheduling arrangements may be considered based on business needs.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Employer-provided PPE may include:

  • Lab coat
  • Safety glasses or goggles
  • Chemical-resistant gloves
  • Additional specialty PPE as required for specific laboratory procedures

Candidate-provided PPE:

  • Closed-toe safety shoes or other appropriate laboratory footwear
