Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine


The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications and nominationsfor a faculty position as a Professor of Small Animal Veterinary Surgery (non-tenuretrack; Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). We are seeking a dynamic facultycommitted to advancing excellence in veterinary education, fostering a culture of
innovation, and promoting a fun, immersive learning environment for academicsuccess among our students. Furthermore, we are creating an inspired academiccommunity dedicated to ensuring our graduates will approach veterinary medicine andsurgery with confidence, curiosity, and capability. At Lyon, you will work in a culturethat values creativity, perseverance, and practical problem solving.

Primary responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarly activities. Teachingactivities are primarily associated with surgery principles and clinical application.Service activities vary with individual preferences and program needs. Scholarlyactivities may include research, continuing education, and publications relevant to the
profession and/or veterinary surgery, and innovations in veterinary education andsurgical training. Interprofessional research addressing One Health challenges is alsoencouraged. A typical time assignment is 75% teaching, 20% scholarly activities, and 5%service. Alternative hiring models including part time, non-benefit eligible positions will
be considered.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Provide innovative education, mentorship, and guidance to all students in avariety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory, simulation center, andCabot Animal Support Services in the discipline of veterinary surgery.
Play a critical role in promoting the health and welfare of animals within a shelterenvironment, including high quality surgical and medical care to small animals,support of population management, promotion of public health, andcollaboration within the shelter program.

Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation to ensure thatstudents meet LCSVM's high academic standards in the areas of knowledge,skills, and abilities.
Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and enhancement.
Provide service to Lyon College and the greater community by serving oncommittees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events,and working with professional organizations and groups.
Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professionaleducation.
Engage in scholarly activity, including research, authorship, presentations atconferences, innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of students in theirscholarly activities.
Opportunities exist to provide medical services to partners of the veterinaryschool, such as private practices.

Qualifications:
Required:

DVM or equivalent degree
Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, anotherrelevant ABVS specialty (such as ABVP), or progress towards specialtycertification.


Preferred:
Master's degree and/or doctoral degree
Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school.
Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings.
Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship,and/or medical research.


This position will be based at the new Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine inCabot, Arkansas. The LCSVM is co-located with Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS).CASS is a local, state, and national model for shelter medicine, animal welfare,community relations, and education.
