Job description

About the Role:

The Plumbing Journeyman plays a critical role in the construction industry by expertly installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position requires a deep understanding of plumbing codes, materials, and techniques to ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. The Journeyman will lead and mentor apprentices and helpers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. They will interpret blueprints and technical drawings to accurately execute plumbing layouts and troubleshoot complex issues. Ultimately, the role ensures that plumbing systems function reliably and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Journeyman Plumbing License / Certification or in process getting it as required by local or state regulations
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a plumber in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with leadership roles or supervising plumbing teams on construction sites.
  • Familiarity with advanced plumbing technologies such as green plumbing systems or smart home integrations.
  • Additional certifications related to plumbing specialties or safety training (e.g., OSHA).
  • Proven track record of successfully completing large-scale commercial or industrial plumbing projects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances according to blueprints and building codes.
  • Lead and supervise apprentices and helpers, providing guidance and training to develop their skills.
  • Inspect plumbing systems for leaks, malfunctions, and compliance with safety regulations, performing necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate plumbing work within construction schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
