Job description

Chief Financial Officer
Location: Reno, NV - onsite (re-location provided)
Compensation: $230,000 to $260,000 base salary
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Position Summary
A well-established and growing construction firm with operations spanning commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to serve as a key strategic partner to senior leadership and the Board. Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will provide the financial vision and operational discipline needed to support continued growth, protect bonding capacity, and ensure the long-term financial health of the organization.
Financial Management and Reporting
  • Own all financial reporting, monthly, quarterly, and annual, for executive leadership and the Board
  • Manage WIP schedules, job cost reports, and over/under billing analysis across all active projects
  • Oversee AIA billing, lien waivers, and compliance with contract financial requirements
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage tax planning, compliance, and relationships with external CPA firms
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes

Operations and Strategic Finance
  • Manage bonding program, surety relationships, and prequalification submissions
  • Oversee banking relationships, lines of credit, equipment financing, and debt covenants
  • Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management across a multi-project portfolio
  • Partner with operations and project management on project financial performance and risk
  • Provide strategic financial input to the President and the Board on growth initiatives, M&A, and capital allocation
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the accounting and finance team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement; this is a hands-on leadership role that requires a dynamic presence capable of rallying the team around shared goals and driving performance at every level

Required Qualifications
  • 15 or more years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the construction industry
  • Deep expertise in construction accounting including WIP, job costing, and percentage-of-completion method
  • Demonstrated experience managing bonding programs and surety relationships
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific accounting standards
  • Prior experience in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA designation
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Business
  • Experience with Sage Intacct; familiarity with other construction ERP platforms such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, CMiC, or similar
  • Familiarity with Nevada and regional market dynamics
