Quest (www.questenergygroup.com) is a leading Aerospace

QC Lead (Aerospace Machining)

Location: Chino, CA Shift: 1st Shift Industry: Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

Position Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Quality Control Lead to spearhead the inspection department for a premier aerospace precision machining facility in Chino. This is a "working lead" role where you will balance departmental leadership—including scheduling and team mentorship—with high-level technical inspection tasks. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in a machine shop environment and is proficient in navigating the rigorous quality standards required by Tier-1 aerospace OEMs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Departmental Leadership: Lead all inspection personnel, manage daily work schedules, and provide performance metrics and quality data to management.

  • Hands-on Inspection: Perform First Article (FAIR), In-Process, and Final inspections on complex precision-machined parts.

  • Technical Compliance: Review and critique AS9102 reports and support both internal and external audit efforts.

  • System Oversight: Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate the efficiency of the quality control system.

  • Continuous Improvement: Investigate non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 6+ years of recent inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

  • Technical Mastery: Proficient in reading blueprints and applying advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

  • Aerospace Standards: Strong working knowledge of AS9100D QMS and experience preparing/maintaining AS9102 documentation.

  • Metrology Tools: Hands-on experience with CMM, FARO Arm, and metrology software such as PC-DMIS or Verisurf.

  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., JobBOSS), CAD software (CATIA V5 preferred), and MS Office 365.

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with major aerospace standards including BAC, BMS, BDS, and MIL specs.

Education:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
