Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Geomatics Summer Intern to join its collaborative I-64 Geomatics team. This individual will provide support to the Geomatics team in the collection of field data and information related to the preparation of survey maps and CAD files. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of progressive technologies as you work directly with an experienced and dynamic team of geomatics professionals and interact with technical specialists in other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the field crew in collecting hydrographic and topographic data;
  • Gain exposure to conventional survey methods;
  • Support the crew in performing crane rail surveys;
  • Perform construction layout;
  • Assist with office tasks including, but not limited to CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing;
  • Maintain survey equipment and initiate repairs when necessary;
  • Remain current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices; attend internal training to expand knowledge and skills; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program is preferred (Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field)

The hourly pay range for this position, located in Virginia, is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
