Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and following up on insurance claims for Home Health, Hospice, and Palliative Care services. If you have experience with medical billing, enjoy solving reimbursement challenges, and are committed to accuracy and compliance, we'd love to hear from you.


As our Billing Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims accurately and on time
  • Verify HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10 coding and ensure documentation supports billed services
  • Bill Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and other third-party payers
  • Monitor billing work queues, claim edits, and validation reports
  • Investigate and resolve denied, rejected, or underpaid claims
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts to maximize timely reimbursement
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve documentation issues affecting billing
  • Maintain accurate billing records within the agency's EMR and billing systems
  • Stay current with CMS regulations, payer requirements, HIPAA standards, and industry best practices
  • Assist with month-end billing activities and provide cross-coverage as needed
  • Develop and maintain clear process documentation for billing procedures

Requirements:Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of medical billing experience
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing requirements
  • Experience with HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10 coding
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • Experience billing for Home Health, Hospice, or Palliative Care
  • Experience with Homecare Homebase, Netsmart, or similar EMR/billing software
