About the Role
The MIT position is a short-term transitional role that prepares employees for promotion to Meat Department Manager. From the program start date, promotion is possible within approximately 3 to 5 months, depending on prior experience and performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Overall Department Operation – Oversee product preparation, display, distribution, and inventory control to drive efficiency and sales.
  • Customer Service – Ensure excellent service, identify issues early, and address customer feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Sales & Financial Performance – Drive sales to meet targets, control labor and stock loss, analyze data, and manage costs.
  • PI Count & System Usage – Track product sales and inventory using company systems and conduct monthly physical inventory counts.
  • Employee Management – Supervise, delegate, schedule, and provide feedback; recommend disciplinary actions, promotions, and hiring in consultation with HR.
  • HQ Support – Assist with all accounting, administrative, maintenance, and marketing duties.
  • Ordering & Receiving – Order products per company schedule and verify quality and quantity upon delivery.
  • Stocking & Processing – Distribute, refill, and rotate stock using FIFO; manage cutting, trimming, packing, and accurate price labeling.
  • Display – Manage product displays and signage; create promotional materials and ensure shelf tags are correct.
  • Cashier & Product Return – Lead cash handling and product return procedures; handle expired and recalled products to reduce waste.
  • Compliance & Loss Prevention – Monitor and safeguard store assets, implement company policies, and report incidents to ASM/SM/DM.
  • Safety – Maintain safe and sanitary working conditions in compliance with all regulations.
  • Maintenance – Clean and maintain equipment regularly; monitor temperatures and keep accurate logs.
  • Sustainability – Monitor expiration dates and replenish products to meet customer demand.
  • Promotion & Demo – Plan promotions, prepare product quantities, set pricing, and arrange demos as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a meat department or equivalent (required).
  • Bilingual in English/Mandarin, English/Cantonese, or English/Spanish (preferred).
  • Ability to work assigned schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Current or ability to obtain a Food Handler's certificate.

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of food production, product lines, and labeling.
  • Understanding of employment laws and federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of company and government safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and guide team members.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate product quality.
