Build the Future of Austin's Telecom Infrastructure with DCOMM
At DCOMM, we keep communities connected by building and expanding high-speed telecommunications networks across Texas. We are looking for an experienced Bore / Equipment Technician based in the Austin area to join our field crew.
If you know how to run ground installation equipment safely and efficiently-specifically walk-behind vibratory plows like the Ditch Witch VP30 or similar machine -and want steady, local work with a team that values your skill, we want to talk to you.
Requirements
What You'll Do
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate walk-behind vibratory plows (VP30) and auxiliary equipment to install underground fiber, conduit, and cable.
  • Drill & Bore Support: Assist directional drilling crews with pot-holing, locating existing utilities, rod loading, and pipe/conduit pulling.
  • Site Preparation & Restoration: Set up job sites, expose existing utilities safely (hand digging/vacuum excavation), and ensure site restoration meets city and company standards.
  • Safety First: Maintain strict adherence to 811 utility marks, OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and safe digging protocols.
  • Daily Maintenance: Perform basic field maintenance, pre-trip inspections, and routine cleaning on assigned machinery and vehicles.

What We're Looking For
  • Hands-On Experience: Proven track record operating underground utility equipment, specifically Ditch Witch VP30 vibratory plows or similar walk-behind drop/plow machinery.
  • Telecom / Utility Background: Experience in underground telecom, drop placement, or horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations.
  • Safety Mindset: Deep understanding of 811 underground utility locating, potholing requirements, and soft-digging techniques.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL Class A is a strong plus).
  • Physical Capability: Ability to work outdoors in Texas weather, lift up to 50+ lbs, and handle active physical field labor.
