Our mission is to provide our clients with the greatest quality of life and the highest level of independence in the community. Spectrum has been serving Colorado for over 40 years in residential settings, Day Program, community and in-home support, and community integrated employment.

Position: Job Coach for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Status: Part time up to 29 hours per week

Location: Aurora (80015) and Thornton (80233)

Reports to: Supported Employment Program Manager

Position Overview:

Job Coaches serve as liaison between individuals with disabilities and their employer to provide maximum opportunity for competitive integrated employment.

As a Job Coach, not only are you able to help them meet their goals and learn new skills, but you get to work with the kindest population, all while observing their intellectual and developmental growth.

Job Functions:

  • Assist clients understand the functions and additional tasks of their jobs.
  • Provides support to employers as agreed upon by clients, which may include negotiating job accommodation and follow-along contact by the employment specialist with the employer.
  • Assist clients communicate with coworkers and management.
  • Assist clients in advocating for their needs while at work.
  • Adhere to safe and healthy practices by complying with workplace safety and health policies and procedures and reporting unsafe work conditions at job sites.
  • Maintain proper community supervision requirements.
  • Providing transportation to and from work is required for clients.
  • Complete daily notes and goals tracking through Spectrums provided online tools and monthly paperwork.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age of older
  • High energy, positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a passion for caring for others.
  • Pass a Criminal and Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS) background check.
  • Possess a valid Colorado drivers license and has a driving record in good standing.
  • Reliable vehicle with proof of auto insurance.
  • Dependable and Punctual
  • Positive attitude, compassionate and critical thinking.
  • Good written, verbal communication and comprehension skills
  • Excellent communication skills with peers and staff members.
  • Non-certified Job Coaches are encouraged to apply. Training and certification will be provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to provide all elements of hands-on care per clients individual needs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to 4-5 hours.
  • Must be able to stop, bend and reach overhead
  • Drive to and from shifts in the community

Experience

  • At least one year working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

Spectrum provides the following training initially and for recertification:

  • Initial Orientation and On-Boarding
  • CPR/First Aid/Universal Precautions
  • QMAP-Med Administration
  • Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training
