Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
  • Protect life and property, conduct proactive patrols, auto crash/theft, injury investigations, respond to calls for service, direct traffic, and enforce applicable laws and adhere to established policies
  • Effect arrests, when necessary on or adjacent to LSUHSC property.
  • Greet visitors and the public while offering assistance and direction
  • Accept supervisory responsibility for the LSU Health Sciences Center in the absence of a higher supervisory officer

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational
In this position you are required to complete a 13 week Police Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy held in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. This academy requires the passing of physical fitness training (running, sit-ups, push-ups. etc) firearms training and defensive tactics training in addition to other training.
Pay rate is dependent upon applicants' qualifications.Starting rate of pay is 18.58 for a PO 1, 19.88 for a PO 2 and 21.27 for a PO 3. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay, $1 Longevity Pay and $2.50 Shift Differential for hours worked only.These positions are in a CPG.As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Police Officer 1, 2, or 3) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
