Job description

About this opportunity: At this time, Ericsson Canada Inc. does not provide immigration assistance/sponsorship now or in the future for this position. About this opportunity We are looking for a 5G Software Designer to join our Baseband Infrastructure team, which supports Ericsson's global telecommunications products based in Canada.

Our platform provides the operating system (OS) and a Software Development Kit (SDK) on which radio applications are built, powering 5G, LTE, WCDMA, and GSM solutions worldwide. This role focuses on the communication stack at the OS level and involves close collaboration with hardware engineering, including early verification of upcoming hardware through simulation and emulation. We work in small, empowered Scrum teams as part of a larger global program, participating in sprint planning, daily scrums, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives - all while contributing to the continuous improvement of how we work together.

What you will do: Design, implement, and optimize components within the communication stack. Develop and maintain the platform SDK used by application teams, including clear APIs, documentation, and sample code. Work alongside hardware teams to support early silicon and board bring-up, using simulation and emulation to validate functionality and performance.

Take ownership of end-to-end quality through unit and integration testing, CI pipelines, code reviews, static and dynamic analysis, and performance regression tracking. Profile and debug low-level issues related to latency, throughput, memory, and concurrency using open-source tools. Partner with global teams to ensure platform readiness and smooth integration across all applications.

The skills you bring: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong proficiency in C for performance-critical, multi-threaded systems, along with a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms. Hands-on experience working with the Linux operating system.

Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices, build systems, and source control management tools such as Bazel, Jenkins, and Git/Gerrit. Comfort working within Scrum and Agile team environments, with strong collaboration and communication skills in a distributed, global setting. What happens once you apply.
