Job Description
The Department of Art & Design at Texas A&MUniversity-Corpus Christi invites applications for a full-time,non-tenure track, Visiting Assistant Professor of Art in Sculpturefor a nine-month term beginning Fall 2026. The Department seeks amotivated and collaborative artist educator with expertise inthree-dimensional art who is enthusiastic about teaching at astudent-centered university. Candidates must demonstrate an activestudio practice and exhibition record, college-level teachingexperience, and commitment to working with a community of students,faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduatesculpture courses, participating in departmental meetings, andcontributing to BFA and MFA reviews. Additional studioresponsibilities involve managing the sculpture lab, includingoverseeing facilities and equipment, purchasing supplies,implementing training and safety protocols, and supervisinggraduate assistants and/or adjunct instructors. The teaching loadconsists of three studio courses in both the Fall and Springsemesters.
The Department of Art & Design is committed tocross-disciplinary and collaborative initiatives, fosteringcommunity engagement, and mentoring students to becomeprofessionally driven artists, designers, scholars, and creativeleaders. The department offers the following degrees: Bachelor ofFine Arts in Communication Design, Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art,Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, Bachelor of Fine Arts inStudio Art with Teacher Certification, and Master of Fine Arts.Exhibition spaces include the Weil Gallery, located in the Centerfor the Arts building on campus, and the forthcoming DowntownGallery at 223 N. Chaparral St. The university's location alsoprovides convenient access to the metropolitan centers of Houston,San Antonio, and Austin, expanding opportunities for culturalengagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • MFA with a demonstrated expertise in 3D/Sculpture
  • Evidence of an active professional record
  • Teaching experience at the university or collegelevel
  • Ability to teach 3D foundations, undergraduate, and graduateSculpture courses
  • Knowledge of current safety and health standards in Sculpturestudios
  • Experience collaborating in a team-oriented workenvironment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in at least one of thefollowing at an intermediate and advanced levels: figurativesculpture, woodworking, fabrication, metal casting, soft-sculpture,installation
  • Demonstrated experience in 3D scanning, printing, and 3Dequipment maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating emerging digitaltechnologies into traditional 3D media
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and provide leadership to graduatestudents across disciplines
  • Knowledge of trends and demonstrable expertise in the history,theory, and contemporary field of Sculpture
