What You Will Do
  • This classification requires the inspection of all types of machined parts, aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and installations, development parts and assemblies, vendor manufactured parts, materials, all types of tooling, master gages, master models and development parts, etc., for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and interchangeability.
  • Sets up and operates all types of numerically controlled multi-axis drilling machines.
  • Exercises a thorough knowledge of various types of machine control units and systems.
  • Sets up and operates machines to perform any operation within the capacity of the equipment.
  • Mounts holding fixtures and sets up targets to worktables; positions, aligns and fastens parts in fixtures, chucks or directly to work tables; mounts drills to spindles.
  • Loads or activates control units, makes required control settings and aligns spindles to set up targets using dial indicators as required.
  • Makes intermediate set-ups changes as programmed.
  • Selects and hones drill tools and cutters to specifications using safety precautions and tools specified.
  • Selects proper stylus and drills.
  • Observes drilling process and watches for functional variations in machines or control units and notifies supervision of malfunctions.
  • Makes periodic checks on parts to ensure dimensional accuracy in order to establish drill change cycle.
  • Verifies new drill accuracy by making comparison checks after drill changes.
  • Sets up and operates equipment to perform close tolerance conventional drilling operations such as drilling compound angles using holding fixtures, etc.
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, and other authorized documents.
  • Checks own work for conformance to specifications.
  • Uses overhead cranes in conjunction with the work described herein.
  • Uses the necessary equipment, tools and materials required to perform the work described herein.
  • Maintains good shop practice.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline
  • Experience setting up and operating various types of cnc drilling machines.
  • Experience performing measurements with precision measurement tools, such as gauges, micrometers and calipers.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, manufacturing outline sheets, etc.

The salary range for this role is $25.13/hr USD - $53.69/hr USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and any key skills.
