What are 3rd shift figure drawing models?

3rd shift figure drawing models are individuals who pose for art classes, workshops, or artists during late-night or overnight hours, typically outside standard daytime schedules. Their primary role is to hold various poses, sometimes nude or clothed, to help artists study human anatomy, proportions, and gesture. Working the 3rd shift means they usually work late at night, which can suit those with flexible schedules or who prefer nighttime hours. These models must be comfortable holding poses for extended periods and be reliable for late-night sessions.

What can I expect in terms of scheduling and work environment as a 3rd Shift Figure Drawing Model?

As a 3rd Shift Figure Drawing Model, you will typically work late-night hours, which may range from late evening to early morning, depending on the institution’s class or studio schedule. The work environment is usually calm and focused, often in an art classroom or studio setting where you'll pose for artists or students. You may be asked to hold various poses, both clothed and nude, for set periods, with breaks in between. Reliable punctuality and the ability to remain still for extended times are important, and you will often work alongside instructors and groups of artists who value professionalism and respect.

Professionalism, punctuality, and comfort with body positivity and situational awareness are standout soft skills for this role. These qualities ensure productive sessions for artists, maintain a respectful environment, and support the creation of high-quality artwork.
