And that’s where you come in.**Job Description:****Hitachi Rail**is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated **Rolling Stock and Depot Equipment Manager**who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based **Pearl City, Hawaii.****Technical Responsibilities:*** Plan, manage, supervise, oversee and allocate resources to all aspects of maintenance activities within the maintenance sections of rolling stock and depot equipment;* Provide support and guidance on rolling stock and depot equipment within the Engineering & Maintenance Department and to the O&M organization at-large;* Assist the Engineering & Asset Manager and staff in updating the maintenance procedures and work instruction to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency;* Manage and complete assigned operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required.* Assist the Engineering & Asset Manager in providing strategic direction, planning, and managing assessing asset condition, performance and obsolescence of passenger vehicles and Depot equipment;* Perform and carry out duties as instructed/directed by the Head of Maintenance.* Manage and perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of System and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults.* Manage the completion of assigned operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required.* Manage and schedule the routine, preventive maintenance and unscheduled corrective maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, and proper maintenance on assigned equipment in accordance with, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturers maintenance instructions.* Manage log files to troubleshoot any problem or to provide predictive maintenance for the systems.* Ensure the effective implementation of first-line response maintenance safety standards.* Direct and where necessary supervise staff in handling complex maintenance activities;* Plan, manage and allocate resources to ensure PV availability and effective and efficient use of the depot equipment and facilities;* Ensure that all staff within Rolling Stock and Depot equipment section are fully competent to perform their assigned tasks;* Ensure that the safety standards within the sections of rolling stock and first line response maintenance are established and in compliance with the company safety policy and procedures;* Ensure that the safety procedures are fully observed and implemented during all maintenance activities on rolling stock, depot equipment and the warehouse by employees and sub-contractors alike;* Meet the Key Performance Indicators according to the targets agreed with the Maintenance & Engineering Manager;* The role requires flexibility and efficiency which require shift rotation, working on weekends and holidays which is typical of major infrastructure projects, and operational rail transit systems.* Be available to attend on a 24-hour on-call basis incidents and emergency within its section.**Health, Safety and Environment:*** Conduct regular health, safety, quality and environmental management review to determine if performance is adequate and to recommend any changes in procedures;* Follow safe working procedures personally and wear appropriate protective gears as required and look out for the safety of others;* Be aware and adhere to requirements affecting your role in relation to: Health, Safety; Security and the Environment* Ensure that effective Health, Safety, Security and Environmental management is embedded into the delivery of all work in line with established policies, systems, plans, procedures and work instructions;* Take care of your own health and safety and that of others that may be affected by your actions (including colleagues, our customers and communities in which we deliver services)* Report all incidents and accidents immediately through appropriate reporting channels and take action to isolate any hazards and risks* Exhibit your commitment to an excellent Health, Safety, Security and Environmental culture among team members, peers, subcontractors and third parties* Look for ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste both within the workplace.**Teamwork:*** Promote and deliver effective teamwork within own department and across departments and build rapport with peers;* Ensure effective communication by email, telephone or in person with co-workers.* Share thoughts and ideas openly and take into account what others have to say.* Ensure appropriate handovers are in place between team members at end of shift to ensure continuity of service and delivery.* Ensure appropriate communication and required actions take place between co-workers within different departments and within own department.**Operational Delivery:*** Ensure a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement is delivered across the organization;* Submit any scheduled reports or documentation required the Engineering and Maintenance Manager as directed;* Ensure that whatever management systems and tools are mandated for your section are used responsibly and accurately, are calibrated correctly;* Be aware and adhere to all departmental procedures and instructions.* Be aware and adhere to all Human Resources procedures and instructions.* Be aware and adhere to the Quality Policy and all related procedures and instructions relating to your department.**Quality and Performance:*** Be aware and adhere to requirements affecting your role in relation to customer satisfaction and service delivery;* Ensure that quality is embedded into the delivery of all work in line with established policies, systems, plans, procedures and work instructions.**Financial and Commercial:*** Be aware and ensure that all staff within the Rolling Stock and Depot section adhere to timekeeping and rostering procedures;* Ensure that all goods and services received are fully checked and certified before authorizing payments;* Ensure that timesheets and overtime payments are accurate, recorded and verified.**Knowledge:*** Professionally qualified, with membership of a recognized engineering institution preferred* Expert knowledge in rolling stock & depot equipment maintenance planning, preparing maintenance budgeting, maintenance plans and procedures, technical specifications, safety and quality plans and procedures;* Thorough understanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations and maintenance.**Skills:*** Must be a skilled manager in communicating, motivating and developing staff;* Must be a strong communicator with external parties;* Highly motivated and flexibility to work in a time-sensitive environment to respond quickly and effectively to unanticipated high workloads, events and emergencies;* Ability to think laterally, analyze and assess a range of information;* Ability to multi-task and analyze situations promptly and without bias so as to determine the proper course of action or alternatives without jeopardizing human safety, quality and the committed performance targets.* Thorough understanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations and maintenance* Must hold a valid US driving license with a clean driving record**Experience:*** Minimum 8 years of relevant working experience in rolling stock and depot equipment maintenance with expert knowledge of car body, train propulsion system, brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control, ventilation and air-conditioning;* At least 5 years of supervisory and management experience;* Experience in maintenance planning, preparing maintenance budget, maintenance plans and procedures, technical specifications, safety and quality plan as required.**Education/Skills:*** Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience**Languages:**· English-ProficientThe salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000 per year.
