Job description

Overview

Please note this role is for the Inbound Shift (5am/6am start time).

The Inventory Control Coordinator partners with the Inventory Control Supervisor/Manager to manage and maintain accurate inventory flow throughout the distribution center. This role is responsible for executing inventory strategies, ensuring proper product placement, and maintaining system accuracy within the Warehouse Management System (WMS). 

The position supports slotting, inventory accuracy, and product rotation standards while working cross-functionally with Quality Control, Replenishment, Supply Chain Systems, Accounts Payable, and 3PL partners. The Inventory Control Coordinator reports directly to the Inventory Control Supervisor/Manager and plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and inventory integrity. 


Overview of Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the WMS, including creating new items and updating existing item data. 
  • Perform cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies to ensure system and physical inventory alignment. 
  • Monitor and enforce proper product rotation (FIFO) across all storage locations. 
  • Verify that all inventory is stored in the correct temperature-controlled environment. 
  • Identify, document, and process damaged or poor-quality products removed from inventory. 
  • Support slotting accuracy, including assigned locations and re-slotting activities as directed. 
  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy standards and resolving inventory-related issues. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent inventory processes and communication. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support inventory control operations. 

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • 2–4 years of experience in logistics, inventory control, or supply chain operations preferred. 
  • Knowledge of fresh produce items (fruits and vegetables) is a plus. 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, and reliability. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Working knowledge of WMS and/or ERP systems. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining inventory records within a WMS.  
  • Experience performing root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies.  
  • Experience supporting slotting optimization and inventory control processes.  
  • Ability to train or provide guidance to less experienced inventory team members.  
  • Advanced proficiency with inventory reporting and Microsoft.   

Physical Requirements 

  • Work is performed in a distribution center environment. 
  • Exposure to varying conditions, including temperature fluctuations, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment. 
  • Occasional operation of forklifts or pallet jacks (where applicable and certified). 
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 75 lbs. 

Pay range
The pay range for this position is $22.98 - $32.02 / hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
