The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers-the Kuskokwim and Yukon.

Position Summary:
This position is a certified coder who assigns ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures and abstracts the codes and patient data into the Financial and Clinical computer systems.
Position Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree.
  • Degree requirement can be waived on a year for year basis for experience.
  • 5 Years ICD/CPT/HCPCS Coding Experience for a Healthcare System, Hospital, or Private Practice
  • Experience with moderate complexity cases such as Ambulatory Surgical Clinic, Emergency Department Services.
  • Must have one of the following certifications, accredited through AAPC or AHIMA:
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
    • Certified Coding Specialist - Physician based (CCS-P)
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Certified Professional Coder - Hospital based (CPC-H)
  • Able to operate printers, copiers, faxes and shredders.
  • Experience with Cerner and 3M preferred
  • Able to use 3M's Code 3 Coding and Reimbursement system.
  • Able to type 50 wpm or faster (corrected for errors).
