Position Overview
The Senior Designer I - 3D CAD is a member of the Design Team. This is an exempt, full-time position that reports to the 3D CAD Design Manager or Design Director. The primary responsibility of this role is the creation of high-quality 3D CAD models, renderings, and technical outputs that clearly communicate design intent and support production readiness.
This position combines strong creative execution with technical expertise, while also driving consistency in modeling standards, file quality, and workflows. The Senior Designer acts as a key partner across Design and Product Development, ensuring both aesthetic integrity and production feasibility while meeting cost and timeline targets.
Responsibilities:
3D Design Ownership
  • Lead development of 3D CAD models for new and existing styles, ensuring alignment with brand standards, cost targets, and seasonal direction
  • Own refinement, iteration, and updates of designs throughout the development lifecycle
  • Translate design direction into accurate, production-ready 3D models and photorealistic renderings
  • Capture and apply direction for materials, scale, and construction to achieve design intent and price point goals
  • Ensure a high level of detail, accuracy, and craftsmanship across all CAD outputs
  • Present design options and iterations to manager for critique, approval, and feedback, incorporating learnings into ongoing development
  • Own presentation of work and proactively manage up to ensure alignment, clear decision-making, and forward progress

Technical Design Execution
  • Own creation and accuracy of CAD files, renderings, and supporting technical documentation prior to production handoff
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, wearability, and functionality, making recommendations to balance design intent, cost, and feasibility
  • Interpret and communicate construction details, materials, and design intent to cross-functional partners and vendors
  • Review and refine internal and factory CAD files to ensure quality, consistency, and production readiness
  • Maintain consistency in file structure, naming conventions, and modeling standards across all work

Process & Workflow Contribution
  • Contribute to scalable workflows and systems related to 3D modeling, rendering, and file management
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cross-functional alignment within the design process
  • Support and uphold team-wide standards, templates, and best practices for CAD and rendering outputs
  • Prioritize and manage work across multiple projects and timelines, balancing business needs and deadlines

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing teams to ensure alignment from concept through production
  • Clearly communicate design intent, updates, and risks to cross-functional partners
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings, contributing to decision-making on feasibility and execution
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal partners to troubleshoot technical challenges and maintain timelines

Design Team Contribution
  • Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with supervisor and design team members to ensure timely, accurate, and cohesive assortment completion
  • Contribute to concepting, sketching, and inspiration during seasonal development cycles
  • Provide informal guidance and feedback to junior team members, supporting overall team quality and consistency
  • Work independently to solve complex problems and make decisions, balancing competing priorities and business needs
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and solutions-oriented team environment
  • Maintain organization and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in jewelry design, industrial design, product development, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in 3D design, ideally within jewelry or consumer products
  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino 3D and rendering software such as Keyshot
  • Strong understanding of jewelry construction, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating production-ready CAD models and technical files with a high level of precision
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and prototyping workflows preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey 3D concepts to cross-functional partners
  • Proven ability to execute high-quality work with consistent on-time delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and influence outcomes through collaboration
  • The ability to be a team player and contribute to a positive working environment

What Sets This Role Apart
  • Ownership of both creative execution and technical accuracy in 3D design
