Job description

Senior Interior Designer

The Senior Interior Designer (SD) at Elastic Architects contributes to the design, development, and execution of interior projects under the direction of the Design Director (DD) and Design Manager (DM).

The SD at Elastic Architects is an integral member of the project team, responsible for developing and coordinating interior design projects under the guidance of the Design Manager. The SD contributes to both the creative and technical aspects of a project – producing drawings, models, and reports; coordinating with consultants; and ensuring design integrity across all phases of the project. Senior Designers mentor Junior & Intermediate Designers, fostering skill development and maintaining high design and documentation standards aligned with the firm’s vision and industry regulations. Working closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams, the SD ensures the delivery of high-quality, well-coordinated interior design solutions that reflect the ethos of Elastic Architects.

Reports To: Design Director & Design Manager

Mentors: Intermediate Designers, Junior Designers

Focus: Concept, Design Development, Coordination and Quality Assurance

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design process, the development, and implementation of interior design plans. Ensure that projects meet client requirements, adhere to the office’s design principles and aesthetic, comply with budget constraints, and meet all relevant regulations and standards, in collaboration with the Design Manager.
  • Know in detail the contract and the Deliverables per stage as well as the Responsibility Matrix document as described.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project development.
  • Develop design proposals according to the project stage and needs.
  • Researches material finishes and specifications according to the project requirements.
  • Create and review drawings, sketches, 3D models, renderings, or reports.
  • Handle project correspondence (or specific themed correspondence for complex projects, as outlined in the internal responsibility matrix), ensuring responses within three days.
  • Liaise with the project’s consultants to coordinate design upon DM’s directions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Attending site visits in accordance with the project’s scope and in coordination with the Design Manager.
  • Participate in client presentations and lead technical meetings, in accordance with office meeting attendance protocols.
  • Create reports on design/technical meetings or site visits and project inspections. (MOM)
  • Actively coaches and develops talent; builds mentoring culture.
  • Participate in 1:1 meeting with the DM.

Technical Skills and Requirements:

  • University Degree in Interior Design (Bachelor of Interior Design).
  • 6-10 years of proven professional experience in interior design.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing participation in interior design projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD: ability to create and modify architectural drawings, floor plans, and construction documents using AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, for graphic presentation and visualization.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering tools (SketchUp, 3DS Max, Enscape).
  • Proficiency in MS office programs.
  • Strong understanding of interior design principles as well as design processes.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws and ADA guidelines, and how these may affect the design process.
