Job description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time 2D/3D CAD/BIM Specialist - Transportation to provide support for CADD/Production/Revit Lighting and Electrical solutions at WSP's National Transportation Lighting Systems group. This position is open to our Boston-MA, New York-NY, and Denver-CO office.

The primary responsibilities of this person are to advance our current 2D/3D AutoCAD, MicroStation and BIM structure, assure and facilitate consistency across project types, assist in the creation of and implementation of staff development training, and promote the effective and efficient use of BIM / Revit on all projects.

Additionally, the candidate shall act as the lighting group's production lead and coordinator for delivering design drawing packages for multiple projects with concurrent schedules, set up project standards, templates and libraries at the outset of a project as a baseline for 2D/3D AutoCAD and MicroStation based projects, along with BIM/Revit projects.

Your Impact
  • The position involves the management for all design production activities from the preliminary design phase through the handover to the client. This includes design document production planning; the development of the workflow plans and the coordination of design activities while maintaining the project budget and schedule.  
  • The candidate will maintain close contact with lead engineers, clients, engineering sub-contractors, and other project management team members.
  • Responsibility for managing the QA process for all design document submittals and maintaining the overall uniformity and technical presentation of design documents.  
  • Responsibility for managing all the group's deliverables.
  • Develop, document and communicate best practices of BIM/Revit technologies, including model management and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Manage the initial set up of models to comply with project standards, office standards and best practices.
  • Manage Revit standards, family content, and office templates.
  • Engage with project teams to strategize, employ and maintain an effective BIM/Revit strategy, including model sharing and coordination with other disciplines, for project deliverables.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for beginners and continuing education for users of all levels.
  • Perform lighting design, applying standard techniques and procedures, including the following typical duties:
    • Assist in the preparation of design criteria documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for lighting.
    • Assist in the development of cost estimates, including performing quantity take-offs.
    • Provide support during construction activities, including performing site visits to confirm field conditions.
       
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience working in Revit in a production, administrative and/or support capacity on projects and 7 years in the AEC industry, preferable in an MEP+L office.
  • Completion of classes and programs relevant to AutoCAD, Revit, and the resign of building systems.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of professional MEP+L services from master planning and schematic design through construction documents and construction administration, including design and technical experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and REVIT.
  • Must possess expert knowledge in Revit Family creation.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and rendering software are preferred.
  • Experience with Navisworks and its relation to Revit models.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be highly organized.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to prioritize.  Shall be a team-player and able to adapt to various team structures working independently, as well as part of a larger group.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred design experience to include:  lighting design and construction activity support.  Areas of preferred experience should include one or more of the following categories of facilities:  Vehicular tunnels, rail tunnels, transit, aviation, industrial, commercial, ports and marine, or roadway.
  • Associate's Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification.

Compensation:
Expected Hourly Rate (all locations): $33.51 - $51.09 per hour
