With over 34,000 employees in more than 450 locations across six continents, Stantec offers a dynamic environment where innovation, collaboration, and diversity thrive.
Stantec's Boston office is seeking a design-focused, client-facing Interior Designer with strong experience in multifamily housing, including market-rate residential, senior housing, and/or student housing. This mid-level role is suited for a professional with 10-15 years of experience who is passionate about design excellence, collaborative leadership, and working directly with developer clients.
Your Role
You will play a key role in the design and delivery of multifamily projects, contributing to and helping lead design efforts from early concept through construction. Working within Stantec's integrated architecture and interiors practice, you will collaborate across disciplines while maintaining a strong design voice and an active presence with clients.
We are seeking an interior designer with strong architectural understanding and a holistic approach to residential design, someone who is comfortable thinking across interiors, building design, detailing, and helping form the overall design vision.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a design leadership capacity while remaining engaged in the technical and collaborative realities of project delivery. Candidates should balance strong design thinking with an understanding of constructability, project budgets, operations, and the resident experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to design-driven multifamily projects, including building and unit types, common spaces, amenity areas, and residential interiors
  • Participate in and help lead client meetings, presentations, and design workshops
  • Develop clear design concepts supported by compelling graphics, drawings, and narratives
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, and consultants to ensure design intent is carried through all project phases
  • Support design quality, technical coordination, and documentation across SD, DD, and CD phases
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative, studio-based culture
  • Assist with business development efforts, including proposals, interviews, and maintaining client relationships

Qualifications
Qualifications
  • 10 years or more of professional experience in interior design, with a strong portfolio of multifamily housing work
  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design; architectural licensure or NCIDQ certification preferred
  • Demonstrated design leadership and a strong aesthetic sensibility informed by constructability and market realities
  • Experience working directly with clients, developers, and stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of residential building systems, codes, and detailing (interiors and/or architectural)
  • Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft PowerPoint required; visualization and 3D rendering skills preferred. Strong graphic presentation abilities are a plus.
  • Experience seeing projects through multiple phases with increasing responsibility
  • Portfolio submission required
