Job description

A Brief Overview

The Radiology Informatics Applications Specialist I position is visible to clinicians with significant impact on patient safety, JCAHO, HIPAA, departmental and patient workflow. Radiology Informatics Applications Specialist I is responsible for providing major enterprise Radiology applications configuration and support as well as other applications as assigned to enhance operational efficiencies and patient safety. This position will support the day to day operations and maintenance of the Radiology Informatics systems. This position will work closely with other Radiology and business units.

What You Will Do
  • Coordinates and participates in unit and integrated testing activities of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met, including the development of testing scripts. Participates in supporting and troubleshooting interfaces for inbound/outbound. Works with other clinical and application analysts to insure system integrations.
  • Participates in change management activities to support successful system deployments and enhancements.
  • Identifies and analyzes moderately complex issues with vendor assistance and brings problem tickets to resolution.
  • Develops policies and procedures in collaboration with clinicians and other system analyst team members. Creates and maintains appropriate system documentation.
  • Participates in application upgrades and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Creates reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools to support customer base.
  • Utilizes and maintains appropriate change control procedures and standards.
  • Performs call rotation duties as required.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships with the Radiologists, Directors, Managers, Supervisors for the enterprise.
  • Trouble-shoot and problem resolution and follow up. Prioritizes own work tasks to insure completion by expected work schedule. Reviews work products and assures it is complete, acceptable and accordance with standards. Job related Technical Skills.
  • Performs all responsibilities within the standards set by the Radiology Policies and Guidelines. Supports the UH Mission and Strategies.
  • Has knowledge of, maintains data integrity, troubleshooting ability of the following systems: PACS, Research PACS, EMR, Post-processing systems and others as assigned. Maintains and Quality assurance of data and images

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
  • Associate's Degree registered x-ray technologist and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. (Required) or
  • Other Accredited Program: Epic Certification and a minimum of 2 years in healthcare related field (Required) or
  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or IT related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. (Required)
Work Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical environment. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. (Required proficiency)
  • Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated ability to use PCs, Microsoft Office suite, and general office equipment (i.e. printers, copy machine, FAX machine, etc.). (Required proficiency)
  • • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with clinical applications • Knowledge of Radiology systems: RIS, PACS, Post processing • Knowledge of Cardiology systems • Document Management systems • Clinical experience and workflow redesign experience is a plus. • Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. • Knowledge of change control procedures and standards are a plus.
