What is a 3D Post Processing Radiology?

A 3D Post Processing Radiology job involves processing medical imaging data, such as CT and MRI scans, to create three-dimensional reconstructions. These 3D images help radiologists and physicians analyze complex anatomical structures for diagnosis, surgical planning, and treatment. Specialists in this role use advanced software to enhance and manipulate images while ensuring accuracy and clarity. They work closely with radiologists, technologists, and clinicians to provide detailed visualizations that support patient care.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in 3D Post Processing Radiology?

In a 3D Post Processing Radiology role, your daily tasks include receiving medical imaging data from CT, MRI, or other modalities and creating detailed 3D reconstructions to support diagnostic and surgical teams. You will collaborate closely with radiologists, technologists, and referring physicians to ensure that visualizations accurately meet clinical requirements and deadlines. Additionally, maintaining data quality, adhering to imaging protocols, and updating patient records in imaging systems are important parts of the job. This role requires both technical expertise and strong teamwork to deliver timely, reliable results that directly impact patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in 3D Post Processing Radiology, and why are they important?

To excel in 3D Post Processing Radiology, you need comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, radiologic imaging, and advanced image processing techniques, often supported by a degree in radiologic technology or a related field. Familiarity with specialized 3D imaging software (such as Vitrea, AW Server, or Syngo.via) and certifications in CT or MRI are highly valuable. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are key soft skills for collaborating with radiologists and clinical teams. These competencies are crucial for producing accurate, high-quality 3D reconstructions that aid in diagnostics, surgical planning, and patient care.

Job description

Company Overview

3D Architech is pioneering next-generation metal manufacturing infrastructures that push the boundaries of design at an unprecedented scale โ€“ at 10 micron and lower. Our proprietary, gelโ€‘enabled metal manufacturing platform enables geometries, thermal performance, and materials combinations that are not achievable with conventional additive or subtractive processes. Our operation spans the USA, Japan, and Taiwan, bridging advanced materials R&D with scalable manufacturing for thermal management applications. As we expand our R&D operations in the US, weโ€™re seeking talented engineers to drive our manufacturing technology and the development of application-specific products for cooling devices.

Job Summary: Materials Chemist Intern

3D Architech is an early-stage deep-tech startup developing a proprietary gel-enabled metal manufacturing platform. In this internship, you will contribute to gel innovationโ€”the most fundamental and upstream part of our manufacturing processโ€”through hands-on work spanning polymer gel formulation, resin development, gel preparation, 3D printing, and materials characterization.

You will work on technically deep and sometimes academic or fundamental challenges while learning to identify the shortest practical path to real-world impact. The goal is to develop a startup mindset that connects rigorous scientific reasoning with rapid experimentation, manufacturability, and the ability to scale successful materials and processes toward mass production as quickly as possible.

Working with the polymer gel R&D team, you will translate technical questions into well-designed experiments, generate and interpret data, and use the results to improve gel materials and the processes that connect resin preparation, printing, post-processing, and final product performance.

This role is suited to someone who wants to combine wet-lab materials research with fast, business-driven development in an evolving startup environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute wet-lab experiments safely, attentively, and with clear technical objectives.
  • Prepare and evaluate polymer gels and photopolymerizable resins, including formulation, mixing, casting, washing, and related processing steps.
  • Support gel-based 3D printing experiments and investigate relationships among resin composition, printing conditions, gel quality, and downstream manufacturing performance.
  • Characterize gel, resin, and printed-material properties using appropriate mechanical, transport, thermal, imaging, or processing-based methods.
  • Accurately document experimental procedures and data, analyze results critically, and communicate conclusions, uncertainties, and recommended next steps.
  • Iterate quickly in response to new findings, identify practical improvements, and balance fundamental investigation with the shortest path to a scalable solution.
  • Take ownership of assigned work, maintain reproducibility and data integrity, and deliver useful results on startup-relevant timelines.

Location:

Cambridge/Somerville, Massachusetts (On-site)

Qualifications:

*The candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Available for a full-time internship between September and December 2026 in the Cambridge/Somerville area.
  • Eligible for the MassCEC Internship Program.

Desired Qualifications:

This position requires hands-on wet-lab experience and a basic understanding of materials science or chemistry. Experience with polymers, gels, or 3D printing is strongly preferred.

  • We are looking for candidates with the following additional traits:
  • Coursework, research, or project experience in polymer science, gel materials, soft matter, photopolymerization, or additive manufacturing
  • Ability to plan and execute experiments carefully, troubleshoot unexpected results, and revise protocols based on evidence and feedback
  • Strong experimental documentation skills and comfort working with structured laboratory data
  • Ability to analyze experimental results, distinguish observations from conclusions, and communicate findings clearly
  • Curiosity about fundamental mechanisms combined with a practical, rapid, and manufacturing-oriented mindset
  • Experience with rheology, mechanical testing, thermal analysis, microscopy, image analysis, or related characterization methods is a plus

Time Commitment:

We are actively looking for

  • Full-time fall interns (September-December, 2026)

The internship period can be renewed as mutually agreed.

Compensation:

This is a paid internship. Compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

Application Timeline:

We are interviewing on a rolling basis. If you're interested, please submit your application through LinkedIn.
