About the Role
The Private Label Packaging Graphic Designer plays a key role in bringing Fleet Farm's exclusive brands to life through thoughtful, consumer-focused packaging design. In this role, you'll transform product concepts and specifications into compelling packaging that communicates value, tells a consistent brand story, and creates a strong shelf presence across multiple product categories.
Working closely with Merchandising, Creative, Product Development, and supplier partners, you'll develop packaging systems, brand standards, and production-ready artwork that support new product launches while ensuring consistency, quality, and speed to market. From concept through production, you'll help shape the visual identity of Fleet Farm's growing portfolio of private label brands.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute innovative packaging designs for Fleet Farm's private label brands, including labels, cartons, boxes, apparel tags, inserts, and other packaging components.
  • Translate product concepts and specifications into compelling packaging that communicates product features, reinforces brand positioning, and creates a strong shelf presence.
  • Create cohesive visual brand systems that ensure consistency across product categories while supporting the evolution of Fleet Farm's private label brands.
  • Develop and maintain private label brand standards, packaging templates, dielines, and production guidelines that improve efficiency, consistency, and speed to market.
  • Create 2D and 3D mockups, prototypes, and renderings to communicate packaging concepts and support cross-functional decision-making.
  • Prepare production-ready artwork, including dielines, color specifications, proofs, and print files that meet vendor and printer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Creative, Product Development, and supplier partners to bring new products from concept through shelf-ready execution.
  • Select and recommend packaging materials while considering cost, functionality, sustainability, and production feasibility.
  • Ensure packaging complies with brand standards, legal requirements, labeling regulations, and print production specifications.
  • Conduct competitive research and evaluate packaging trends, consumer preferences, and retail merchandising strategies to continually improve Fleet Farm's private label brands.
  • Retouch and prepare product photography and supporting imagery for packaging and related product launch materials.
  • Maintain organized digital assets, version control, and file management to support ongoing packaging development.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset by identifying opportunities to improve workflows, elevate creative quality, and streamline packaging processes.
  • Support additional packaging and product launch initiatives as assigned.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience designing consumer product packaging, preferably supporting private label or retail brands.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing consumer product packaging is required. Portfolio examples should demonstrate packaging systems, typography, branding, layout, and projects taken from concept through production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and experience with 3D design software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, ArtiosCAD, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, color theory, packaging hierarchy, and consumer purchasing behavior.
  • Experience preparing artwork for commercial printing, including knowledge of dielines, prepress, color management, and production techniques.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, printing processes, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to balance creativity and production requirements.
  • Strong project management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to receive feedback, adapt designs, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and print partners.
  • Prior retail or consumer products experience preferred.
