3D Annotation information

What is 3D annotation?

3D annotation is the process of labeling or tagging objects, features, or areas within three-dimensional data, such as point clouds, meshes, or 3D images. It is commonly used in fields like autonomous driving, robotics, and augmented reality to help machine learning models understand and interpret 3D environments. Annotators may identify and classify objects, draw bounding boxes, or segment specific regions within the 3D space. This data is crucial for training and validating AI systems to recognize and interact with real-world objects accurately.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3D Annotation Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a 3D Annotation Specialist, you need attention to detail, spatial awareness, and basic knowledge of 3D modeling or computer vision, often supported by a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with 3D annotation tools like Supervisely, CVAT, or Labelbox, and experience with relevant file formats and data management systems, are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, patience, and effective communication help individuals stand out in this meticulous, collaborative role. These skills ensure accurate data labeling, which is crucial for the development and training of reliable AI and machine learning models.

What are the typical challenges faced when working in 3D annotation roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in 3D annotation often encounter challenges such as maintaining accuracy while labeling complex objects from multiple angles and ensuring consistency across large datasets. The work can be repetitive, requiring strong attention to detail and patience to avoid errors that may impact downstream machine learning models. Collaboration with data scientists, software engineers, and QA teams is essential to clarify guidelines and resolve ambiguities. Adopting efficient annotation tools and proactive communication within the team can help overcome these challenges and improve workflow efficiency.

Job description

AutoCAD Drafter/Fabrication Detailer - Custom Metalwork | Las Vegas, NV

Nexeo is hiring an AutoCAD Drafter / Fabrication Detailer for a premier custom design-build firm in Las Vegas specializing in high-end staircases, railings, and architectural metalwork for luxury residential and commercial projects. You’ll transform architectural plans and field dimensions into fabrication-ready shop drawings that the shop floor and installers can build from—accurately, on time, and to spec.

This role is ideal for detail-oriented drafters who enjoy turning complex designs into precise, buildable documentation and collaborating with project managers, fabricators, and field teams.

Responsibilities

  • Produce fabrication-ready shop drawings from architectural plans, client drawings, and field measurements (2D; 3D a plus)
  • Create part and assembly details, sections and elevations, connection details, and clear installation sheets
  • Interpret and apply weld symbols, material callouts, and tolerances; compile BOMs and cut lists where required
  • Incorporate redlines quickly and manage revision control using Bluebeam and Excel standards
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, fabricators, and installers to ensure drawings are accurate, buildable, and on schedule
  • Follow company CAD standards, naming conventions, and drawing templates; help improve standards over time
  • Maintain a high level of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail across multiple active projects

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications (Screening Criteria)

  • AutoCAD proficiency (daily user) with 2D detailing; familiarity with layer management, line weights, annotation, and dimension styles
  • Experience producing shop drawings or construction and fabrication drawings in architectural metals, structural steel, millwork, or specialty fabrication
  • Ability to read architectural and structural plans and translate field dimensions into buildable details
  • Strong accuracy and QA mindset (redlines, as-builts, revision logs)
  • Communication and collaboration skills with project teams and shop and field personnel

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to stair and railing detailing, ornamental iron, or structural steel
  • Weld symbols (AWS), material specifications, and tolerance and fit-up understanding
  • SketchUp, Revit, Inventor, or SolidWorks for 3D visualization and clearer detailing
  • Bluebeam for markups; Excel for BOMs, cut lists, and tracking

Pay

$22.00-$28.00 per hour

Schedule

Full Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
