As an Assembler Installer for Doors, you will embark on an exhilarating journey where precision meets innovation at great heights! This dynamic role places you at the forefront of aerospace assembly work, where you will work on elevated platforms, reaching up to 90 feet off the ground, to install and align critical door systems. Your expertise will directly impact on the functionality and safety of our aircraft, as you collaborate with a skilled team to transform complex designs into reality.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards, ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and be a part of our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review bar charts, Installation Plans (IP), and Shop Order Instances (SOI) to determine job assignments and obtain necessary rig documents and drawings.
  • Identify and locate the work area using drawings, IP, SOI, and other documentation that specifies airplane number and section.
  • Verify the accuracy of kitted detail parts and assemblies by comparing part numbers and quantities against IP, SOI, and Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Retrieve parts from the Parts Control Area (PCA) or other storage locations as specified, ensuring they are effective for the airplane and free of defects.
  • Set up assembly tools according to tooling instructions and drawings, ensuring all locators are correct for the specific model configuration.
  • Drill, ream, and countersink close tolerance holes, and install fasteners in parts and assemblies per specifications using appropriate tools.
  • Align and install door assemblies to the airplane structure, ensuring proper initial alignment with bolts and bushings.
  • Adjust door assemblies for fit and alignment using door rigging tools, ensuring correct swing and fairing with the fuselage.
  • Install door hardware, including seals and sensors, and check for proper fit, gaps, and light leaks.
  • Apply sealants, primers, and special finishes according to specifications, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Conduct seal checks on door installations using vacuum pressurization equipment and ultrasonic leak detectors to identify leaks.
  • Install personnel evacuation slides and associated components, assisting in deployment checks to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform functional and operational tests on all door systems, including mechanical and electrical components, to verify correct functionality.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials, such as paints and sealants, in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Operate various types of mechanical lifts (e.g., scissor and snorkel lifts) to position parts and perform assembly work safely.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by removing all Foreign Object Debris (FOD) to ensure safety and quality.
  • Witness and assist in the deployment of evacuation slides and the removal of evacuation equipment from the aircraft.
  • Execute any necessary rework, modifications, or incorporation of changes during or after the assembly of doors and related components.
  • Properly mark and symbolize work for subsequent riveting and assembly processes.
  • Coordinate with other ongoing tests on the aircraft, ensuring lockout/tagout systems are in place when performing tests.
  • Document and report any job handicaps, such as errors in parts, materials, or assembly procedures, in accordance with shop procedures.
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to address process-related issues and report any job handicaps or errors encountered during assembly.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
