Job description

General Summary of Job Duties: The Aquarist III will be responsible for maintaining and caring for the fish, reptiles, and other sea creatures in Silverton Casino's 117,000-gallon aquarium. This may include feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the animals, as well as performing water quality tests and maintaining filtration systems.

General Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain a high quality of guest service according to Silverton Be Amazing Service Standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures as well as the willingness to learn and follow any policy or procedure that may be introduced in the future.
  • Adhere to all appearance and uniform standards.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Managers.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, fellow Team Members, and Vendors.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Regular attendance on all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.
  • Arriving on time for all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education & Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of aquarium systems, including life support systems for fish, animal husbandry, maintenance, and quarantine protocols for many marine species.
  • Knowledge of basic fish biology.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of water filtration and tank cycling.
  • Knowledge of health and safety measures for working in a 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and associated laboratory/quarantine facilities.
  • The expertise of Hach and Thermo Scientific water quality testing equipment is a plus.
  • Scuba certification or prepared to obtain scuba certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both employees and managers.
  • Ability to maintain records and communicate effectively and diplomatically, both oral and written.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor.
