Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Experienced colleague who assists with troubleshooting, performing minor to moderate repairs, and maintaining mechanical equipment and machinery.

  • 2nd Shift: 2:30pm-10:30pm

Pay Range Based on Experience:

  • $34.35 - $40.99 per hour

Pay Differential:

  • $1.25/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Performs visual inspections, checks fluid levels, lubricates, and cleans parts, tightens, and adjusts components, replaces parts, calibrates sensors and gauges.
  • Performs diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment to assess condition, performance, and functionality.
  • Uses advanced diagnostic tools, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and other technologies to streamline maintenance processes.
  • Troubleshoots issues by analyzing symptoms and diagnosing complex mechanical issues.
  • Determines materials, replacement parts, and tools/parts needed to perform advanced repairs and overhauls of machinery, including replacing critical components and rebuilding systems.
  • Utilizes root cause analysis to identify and resolve equipment issues and breakdowns in order to prevent recurrence of failures.
  • Documents maintenance and repair activities, including recording parts used and work performed.
  • Provides recommendations for equipment upgrades and preventative maintenance. Validates quality of work orders submitted by others and adjusts frequency.
  • Ensures tools and equipment used in the workshop are in good working condition and junior colleagues are maintaining appropriately.
  • Ensures supplies are ready by inventorying stock, placing replacement orders, and receiving and verifying against receipt.
  • May partner with Store/Inventory clerk to ensure inventory is accurate.
  • Leads projects involving the installation, modification, or relocation of machinery and equipment.
  • Follows technical documents, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, blueprints, schematics, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements or equipment upgrades to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Leads root cause problem solving activities.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with role, including but not limited to work orders, parts request forms, RCA reports, PM inspection sheets, runtime inspection sheets, downtime reports.
  • Trains and advises junior mechanics.
  • Serves as subject matter expert to junior colleagues.
  • Promotes, complies, and ensures operations and company safety procedures and practices are followed.
  • Recommends new policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Typically possesses High School diploma (or equivalent) and 5 or more years of experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expert knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and advanced diagnostic testing methods.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and advanced diagnostic technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for resolving complex mechanical issues and preventing recurrence.
  • Ability to plan and execute advanced repairs, overhauls, and system rebuilds with high accuracy.
  • Leadership skills to oversee projects, validate work orders, and guide the frequency and quality of maintenance tasks.
  • Strong mentoring and training ability, serving as subject matter expert for junior mechanics.
  • Knowledge of supply chain coordination, including inventory management and collaboration with clerks.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical documents, schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs.
  • Skill in identifying process improvements, recommending upgrades, and enhancing equipment efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Commitment to enforcing safety rules, leading emergency responses, and promoting safe practices.

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $26.68 - $45.43annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between40.99 to40.99. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
