Job description

A Paramedic (EMT-P) is a person qualified as required by Florida State Statute 401 and has a current Florida Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certification to provide Advanced Life Support medical care and serves on a Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support Ambulance.  An Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic may drive an ALS or BLS unit or serve as the senior Medical Technician on an ALS or BLS unit, depending on the needs of the patient.

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
     
  2. Hold a current Florida Class E License.
     
  3. Have and maintain a good driving record.
     
  4. Be in generally good physical health.
     
  5. Be free of any mental illness.
     
  6. Be free from addiction to alcohol or drugs.
     
  7. Have a high school diploma, equivalent certification, or a GED.
     
  8. Possess a current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider certification.
     
  9. Possess a current Certification as a Florida Paramedic.
     
  10. Have Documentation of completion of state required 16-hour EVOC course or the equivalent.
     
  11. Has not been convicted of a DUI/DWI in the last 7 years.
     
  12. Has completed (from the DHS FEMA Training Website):
  • ICS – 100a, Introduction to Incident Command System.
  • IS-5a, Introduction to Hazardous Materials.
  • IS 700, Introduction to National Incident Management System.
  • IS-800, Introduction to the National Response Plan.
