As a 200 Ton Captain, you'll generally work in shifts that may range from week-long rotations on board to daily schedules, depending on the vessel type and employer. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing vessel navigation and safety, supervising the crew, coordinating cargo or passenger operations, and maintaining compliance with maritime regulations. Captains also conduct regular safety drills, inspect equipment, and serve as the main point of contact during emergency situations. Collaboration with port authorities, clients, and support staff is frequent, making strong teamwork and communication skills especially valuable. This role offers hands-on leadership experience and can serve as a stepping stone to higher tonnage licenses or maritime management positions.
