Job description

1st Shift Welder
Midway Staffing is seeking motivated and dependable General Laborers to join our team on the first shift. This versatile position offers the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of our manufacturing and warehouse operations, including assisting with welding. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to develop your skills in a growing company, we want to hear from you!
Location: Decatur, AR
Schedule 5:30 am to 4:00 pm
Pay rate: $17 
Duties:
  • Read and interpret blueprints and manuals with attention to measurements
  • Verify specifications of components and the equipment that it is being welded
  • Alter dimensions to fit specifications
  • Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repair
  • Design and create jigs that aid in the fabrication of the parts
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and strengthen metal as needed
  • Work within a high-production pace to maintain product supply for business needs
  • Must be able to keep up with all production requirements
  • Regular attendance is consistent with the Company Attendance Policy
Requirements:
  • Prior welding experience in an industrial or shop environment
  • Ability to calculate angled and other various measurement data
  • Knowledge of properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding, and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods
  • Advanced understanding of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills
  • Heavy machinery maintenance is a plus
  • Proficiency in utilizing welding tools such as a TIG welder, MIG welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch, etc.
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to use standard hand tools
  • Mechanical aptitude
