Job description

1st Shift - Senior Millwright/Electromechanical Technician

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 1st Shift Senior Millwright/Electromechanical Technician role in our Laurinburg, NC facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Millwright/Electromechanical Technician will operate in a safe and efficient manner of troubleshooting and repairing equipment and machinery. The primary duties include:

MAINTENANCE

  • Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment and provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled productions runs.
  • Performs mechanical work including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Responsible for PM‘s of all plant equipment.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Safely operates mobile equipment including forklift, front loader, telehandler, skid steer, man lift, and yard/jockey trailer combination.
  • May work in other duties as assigned.

QUALITY

  • Maintains and verifies that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, truck drivers, office personnel, and customers.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed.

SAFETY AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules
  • Responsible for safety, cleanliness, and organization of maintenance department.
  • Communicates with supervisor and other maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinates and administers company policies as they relate to the maintenance department.
  • Conducts tests and reports items regarding insurance qualifications to meet safety regulations and standards.
  • Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.
  • Establishes personal goals and works with fellow employees towards continuous improvement and teamwork.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to work in extreme weather
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly

OTHER DUTIES

  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor and Manager with other initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Technical Degree
  • 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing)
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting is preferred
  • Ability to read blue prints
