We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Location

This position is based out of Calgary, AB with opportunity for flexible work options. Travel will be required on occasion, including into the US.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in the design of large power generation projects.
  • Work as part of a large project team, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction superintendents, to provide clients with the industry's best in engineering and construction.
  • Prepare technical specifications and interface with construction partners.
  • Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, perform electrical equipment and construction proposal bid evaluations, and prepare recommendations for contract awards.
  • Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, schematics, calculations, equipment sizing, and conceptual design, utilizing standard methods and project standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and company guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to specify electrical components and equipment, ensuring they meet project requirements.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss project scope, deliverables, and technical requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an CEAB accredited four-year college or university program required.
  • P.Eng strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years' experience as an electrical engineer in the power generation or oil and gas industries.
  • Proficiency with basic computer operation and standard software tools. Should have completed some introductory computer programming courses, as well as the ability to use electrical department design software tools.
  • Experience in field construction or startup power plant work is a plus.
  • Previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable.
