What does 18 hourly mean in a job listing?

'18 Hourly' in a job listing means the position pays $18 per hour of work. This wage rate is typically before taxes and deductions. Hourly positions track the amount of time you work, and you are paid based on the number of hours worked each pay period. Overtime pay may apply if you work more than a standard number of hours per week, depending on company policy and local labor laws.

What types of roles are commonly available for positions that pay $18 hourly, and what can applicants expect in terms of job responsibilities?

Positions that pay $18 hourly often include roles in administrative support, customer service, retail supervision, warehouse operations, and entry-level technical or healthcare support jobs. Applicants can expect responsibilities such as interacting with customers or clients, managing inventory or data, supporting team operations, and maintaining workplace safety and efficiency. These roles typically offer opportunities to develop valuable skills, gain experience, and, in many industries, advance to higher-paying or supervisory positions with strong performance and additional training.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an 18 hourly worker, and why are they important?

To thrive in an hourly position, you typically need reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform assigned tasks efficiently, with a high school diploma or equivalent often required. Familiarity with specific tools, equipment, or point-of-sale systems may be necessary depending on the job's industry. Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills help individuals stand out in these roles. These skills and qualities ensure productivity, dependable service, and a positive work environment, all of which are critical for individual and organizational success.

The Wendy's Story
First of all, yes, Wendy is a real person. And a pretty special one, being the daughter of our founder Dave Thomas. Today, she is one of the most involved and successful franchise owners in the Wendy's enterprise. We think Dave would be proud. Back in 1969, he looked around at all other hamburger joints and was like, "Nah. People deserve better." At the time, other quick-service restaurants were using frozen beef and mass-producing food. Not Dave. His approach of serving fresh, made-to-order hamburgers changed the game. And his can't-stop-won't-stop commitment to making customers happy drives everything we do today.
