What is a 1099 contractor full stack developer?

A 1099 Contractor Full Stack Developer is a self-employed professional who is hired to work on both front-end and back-end aspects of web development projects. The '1099' refers to the IRS form used to report income for independent contractors in the U.S., meaning they are not employees but work on a contractual basis. These developers typically manage their own taxes, work for multiple clients, and have flexibility in choosing their projects. They are responsible for delivering complete web solutions, from designing user interfaces to building and maintaining server-side logic.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 1099 contractor full stack developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a 1099 Contractor Full Stack Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, and SQL), as well as experience with frameworks like React, Node.js, or Django. Familiarity with cloud platforms, version control systems like Git, and relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer) are typically valuable. Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for meeting project deadlines and collaborating with diverse clients. These skills enable contractors to deliver high-quality, end-to-end solutions efficiently while adapting to varying project requirements.

What are some common challenges faced by 1099 contractor full stack developers when managing multiple client projects?

As a 1099 Contractor Full Stack Developer, one of the main challenges is effectively balancing multiple client projects with varying requirements and deadlines. Contractors are responsible for their own time management, communication, and project prioritization, which can be demanding without the structure of a traditional team. It's important to set clear expectations with clients, use project management tools, and maintain transparent communication to ensure all deliverables are met. Additionally, staying up-to-date with both front-end and back-end technologies is essential, as clients often expect versatile technical expertise.

About Ntegral

Ntegral is an AI-first technology company specializing in cloud marketplace solutions across Microsoft Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Google Cloud Platform. We operate at the intersection of automation, AI, and cloud infrastructure, delivering scalable solutions to enterprise customers through hyperscaler marketplaces.

Position Overview

Ntegral is seeking a Full Stack Developer to own the development and ongoing support of our software product suite. The core applications are already built and tested; this person will manage feature updates, support product launches, and build new tools as the product line grows. This is a hands‑on development role in a lean, fast‑moving environment where AI tools are a standard part of the development workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications across both front‑end and back‑end systems
  • Modify and enhance existing applications to improve performance, add features, and adapt to evolving requirements
  • Analyze user needs and system requirements to determine feasibility and scope of development work
  • Develop and execute software testing and validation procedures to ensure quality and reliability
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and Senior DevOps Lead to align development timelines with product launch cycles
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues proactively
  • Document technical specifications, system updates, and development processes
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, AI development tools, and cloud‑native best practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The following non‑technical competencies are essential for success in this role:

  • Critical Thinking: Applying logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and make sound development decisions
  • Active Learning: Quickly absorbing and applying new technologies and frameworks as the product evolves
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions independently
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and thoroughness across code, testing, and documentation
  • Collaboration: Working effectively across engineering, product, and marketing functions in a lean team environment
  • Adaptability: Comfort with change, ambiguity, and a fast‑moving product development cycle
  • Dependability: Consistent follow‑through on commitments in a self‑directed work environment
Technical Requirements
  • Proficiency in front‑end technologies (React, TypeScript, Next.js or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in back‑end development (Go, Node.js, C# or equivalent)
  • Cloud‑native development experience required; Microsoft Azure experience required
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • AI literacy is required. Must be comfortable using AI‑assisted development tools, writing and refining prompts, and critically evaluating AI‑generated output as a standard part of workflows
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and database management (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Azure certification (AZ‑204 Developer Associate or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with hyperscaler marketplace publishing environments (Azure, AWS, OCI, or GCP)
  • Experience building and launching enterprise‑grade applications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional full‑stack development experience required, with demonstrated ability to own and deliver software products end‑to‑end.
Location/Work Arrangement

This is an Atlanta, GA‑based role. Reasonable commute to the office is required; in‑office four days per week initially, with flexibility as the role matures.
