Job description

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a key role in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment and systems within assigned facilities in the Columbus, OH market. Working on-site during the day shift, this role supports the operations team, assists specialized technicians such as Mobile Engineers and HVAC/R and Control Systems Technicians, and independently completes defined maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment and systems within assigned facilities.
  • Assist Mobile Engineers, HVAC/R technicians, and Control Systems Technicians with maintenance and repair activities.
  • Perform general interior maintenance, including HVAC/R coil cleaning and evaporator coil cleaning.
  • Maintain and service kitchen equipment such as meat grinders, cubers, meat saws, and slicers.
  • Maintain lighting systems, including replacing bulbs and ballasts.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs as needed.
  • Complete special tasks such as painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, and general maintenance assignments.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies while participating in on-call rotation.
  • Troubleshoot building systems and equipment and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Carry out basic carpentry, drywall repair, and painting work as required to maintain facility standards.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with facilities maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to perform general building repair and maintenance, including basic plumbing and basic electrical work.
  • Skill in troubleshooting building systems and equipment and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Competence in drywall repair, painting, carpentry, and general interior maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to maintain and service kitchen equipment such as meat grinders, cubers, meat saws, and slicers.
  • Capability to maintain lighting systems, including bulbs and ballasts.
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Ability to comply with safety procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials.
  • Physical ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and drive as required by the role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Valid state driver’s license that is maintained in good standing.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an applicable technical training program in a relevant trade or discipline is desirable.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical is preferred.
  • Comfort working on-call and responding to after-hours emergencies.
  • Ability to use and maintain provided tools to perform assigned work scope effectively.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site in retail facilities in the Columbus, OH market, working primarily within store environments that require frequent interaction with building systems and equipment. The role is day shift, with an on-call requirement for after-hours emergencies. The work involves regular climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving, and takes place in active commercial spaces where safety, cleanliness, and professionalism are essential. You will use a variety of tools and equipment related to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, and kitchen equipment maintenance, which are provided to support the assigned work scope.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
