Job description

What We Need YOU To Do:
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest software development spec in our Office of Data Services at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

As the Office of Data Services' newest software development spec, you will help in the development of GIS-specific software applications and work with business personnel to identify and document GIS system software requirements and business workflows. You will work with senior staff to define data and workflow problems and develop potential GIS solutions, conduct testing, and assist with documentation.
You are going to maintain information in geographic databases for subsequent analysis and representation. You will ensure alignment with geospatial data and metadata standards - as well as queries, combines, analyzes, and visualizes data from multiple sources using tools such as SQL, Python, and JavaScript.
As a software development spec, you will conduct complex analysis of geospatial data using GIS software tools like spatial or network analysis and analytic methods such as proximity and network analysis, work on specialized geoprocessing tools, scripts, and models. You will also provide technical support to agency GIS users and respond to help desk tickets.

Qualifications
  • 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • OR completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
  • OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
