Job description

Job Title

Core Responsibilities

Component Packaging: Integrating heavy components (like the infotainment display, gauge cluster, steering column, and airbag modules) into the tight constraints of the dashboard while accounting for wiring and HVAC systems.

Mechanical Design: Creating 3D models and 2D layouts using CAD software (predominantly CATIA V5/V6) to develop parts like center consoles, cup holders, trim pieces, and glove boxes.

Testing & Verification: Ensuring the dashboard and console meet rigid safety and noise standards. This involves managing IP squeak and rattle (S&R), airbag deployment clearance, and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) compliance.

Manufacturing Feasibility: Designing parts for assembly, prioritizing clip attachment methods, structural integrity, and tooling considerations for injection molding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Negotiating with the styling (design) studios, testing departments, part suppliers, and factories to ensure the final product looks good, fits properly, and stays within budget.

Development of Design Concepts based on project direction guidance from OEM

CAD Activities in CATIA V5 and V6

Evaluation and Open Item Closure

Creation of Layouts

Styling Feasibility with LA Studio

3D Modeling

Drawing Creation to OEMs standards using latest software systems

CATIA V5 will be primary CAD program used thru Die Go

Supporting Document Creation

Cost Estimation and Analysis of Supplier Quotes

Evaluation Attendance & C/M creation and response (e.g. Rattle & Squeak, IQS, Wiring & Piping, etc)

Requirements

PSC to be on-site full time at OEM, Ohio location and act as PIC and window person to LTTS Near Shore and Offshore PSCs

Offshore PSC workload and responsibilities to be managed by Onsite PSC

Must understand the OEM development flow:

Overall project schedule

General understanding of the expectations at each milestone

Working knowledge of OEM development systems

High level of CATIA V5 and V6 capability

Ability to work with and negotiate with styling, suppliers, and factory to support OEMs best interests and best practices

Understanding of part/assembly cost drivers and design methods to achieve development targets.
