Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Developmental & Behavioral Health

Location: Columbus, OH Employment Type: Part-Time Pay: $63.00/hr Schedule: Short term, 20 hours/week, daytime hours

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality medical care to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other developmental conditions. This role is ideal for a provider who is passionate about delivering patient-centered care and collaborating with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to support the overall health and well-being of a unique and often underserved population.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive physical assessments and ongoing medical evaluations

Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions

Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s developmental and behavioral needs

Prescribe medications and monitor effectiveness and side effects

Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, case managers, and support staff

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on health maintenance, medication management, and preventive care

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all patients

Qualifications

Active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Ohio

Board certification as an FNP, AGNP, or PMHNP

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities

Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders

Excellent communication and de-escalation skills

Ability to build rapport with patients who may have communication or sensory challenges

Experience in behavioral health, primary care, neurology, or disability services is highly preferred
