Job description

Job Title: Interim Controller – NYC (Hybrid) Location: New York, NY (Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week) Duration: Interim assignment, minimum 3 months with possibility of extension Compensation: $85-$100/hour Company Overview We are partnering with a venture-backed health and wellness technology company serving enterprise and small/mid-sized customers with hardware and service solutions. The company is currently transitioning to a new entity with a direct sales model. This is a high-visibility role where finance and accounting play a critical strategic function.

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Interim Controller to oversee the accounting function and provide strategic support to the CFO during a key transition period. This role requires hands-on accounting expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to manage outsourced teams. The Interim Controller will ensure accurate revenue recognition, support month-end close processes, and contribute to corporate compliance and financial reporting readiness.

Key Responsibilities Oversee revenue recognition, including contracts, invoicing, and allocation of transaction price across multiple performance obligations (ASC 606) Review and validate invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness Manage month-end close and reporting processes in NetSuite Provide oversight and quality control over outsourced accounting teams Assist CFO with corporate filings, including Delaware annual filings and franchise tax Support financial reporting and compliance to meet PE investor expectations Act as a strategic sounding board for the CFO on accounting and financial treatment decisions Ensure proper setup and stabilization of the new entity’s accounting processes post-transition Qualifications Strong technical accounting background, with experience in ASC 606 revenue recognition Hands-on experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems Experience managing or overseeing outsourced accounting teams Exposure to PE-backed or growth-stage companies preferred Ability to prioritize tasks and apply judgment in complex financial scenarios Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
