Job description

Come join Intuit as an Assistant General Counsel, Employment Counsel! Our Employment Legal team provides practical, business-oriented legal counsel on Intuit's most strategic workforce matters, partnering closely with People & Places leaders, and helping Intuit navigate complex employment challenges with creativity, judgment, and integrity without compromise.
As a senior member of the Employment Legal Team, you will partner with our People & Places and other leaders around the world to ensure Intuit's employment strategy, programs, and policies are structured to accelerate our workforce strategy while complying with the law in all our jurisdictions. You will build stakeholder empathy by understanding and anticipating the needs of our stakeholders including People & Places and business leaders. We look at challenges as opportunities to find the best outcome for our stakeholders and enable them to take smart risks and identify the best paths forward.
This role is hybrid with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in Mountain View, CA or San Diego, CA. We prioritize being together to promote connection and belonging, creativity and innovation, as well as speed, agility, and productivity to accelerate getting work done.
Responsibilities
  • Advise the People & Places team on all employment legal matters in assigned business unit(s), covering the entirety of the employment lifecycle from recruiting to separation
  • Serve as strategic legal partner for assigned centralized subject matters, including:
    • Global benefits: health and welfare, 401(k), nonqualified deferred compensation, fringe benefits, and statutory benefits, working with outside benefits counsel
    • Leaves of absence and accommodations policies and day-to-day support
    • Performance and promotion programs
    • Immigration escalations and policies, working with external immigration counsel
    • APAC (India and Australia), liaising with local counsel
  • Represent Intuit in employment claims, managing outside litigation counsel as needed
  • Support and/or lead special projects and initiatives as needs arise, including M&A and workforce restructuring matters
  • Deliver clear, practical, and business-oriented advice to enable smart risk-taking
  • Partner closely with Employment Legal team members to drive consistency, share expertise, and deliver coordinated support across client groups
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships and influence senior stakeholders
  • Use AI responsibly and proficiently to accelerate work and scale Legal services

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience advising on complex global workforce issues
  • In-house experience, preferably at a multi-national technology company
  • Extensive experience with employee benefits, including health and welfare plans, ERISA and 401(k) compliance, and executive compensation
  • Extensive experience with M&A and workforce restructuring
  • Strong employment litigation background
  • Comfort using generative AI tools and a willingness to adopt and champion responsible AI practices within the Legal function
  • International experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others in a team environment
  • Ability to serve as a strategic advisor and influence successful outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Excellent in-house judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
  • Clear and concise communicator, with experience interfacing with senior executives
  • JD and active bar membership (California preferred)
  • Strong personal ethical code and integrity; deep respect for privacy and confidentiality

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. This position may be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at ). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay range for this position is:
Bay Area California $ 266,000- 360,000
Southern California $ 245,000- 332,000
