Job Title: Senior Project Accountant

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Duration: Direct Hire

Salary Range:$100K to $115K/annum

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to support general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and project-based accounting activities. This position will take ownership of month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and audit support while ensuring compliance with GAAP and established accounting policies.

The ideal candidate has strong full-cycle project accounting experience, preferably within construction or a similar project-driven environment, and is comfortable researching discrepancies, improving accounting processes, and working independently in a fast-paced corporate finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and review general ledger account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Research accounting discrepancies and drive issues through resolution.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, accounting records, and financial reports.
• Own and execute month-end close activities.
• Apply GAAP and accounting policies to complex transactions and accounting matters.
• Perform full-cycle project-based accounting and financial analysis.
• Support annual financial audits and provide required documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
• Participate in ERP/system implementation activities, including testing, cutover, and post-go-live support.
• Support special accounting and finance projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3–5+ years of public or corporate accounting experience.
• 2+ years of full-cycle project-based accounting experience.
• Construction, engineering, real estate, manufacturing, or another project-driven industry strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general accounting principles, and accounting procedures.
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close and GL reconciliations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• ERP implementation experience, including design, testing, cutover, or post-go-live support, is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a stable, detail-oriented accountant with 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years of full-cycle project-based accounting. Candidates with construction or other project-driven accounting experience are especially attractive.

They should be hands-on with GL accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, GAAP, financial reporting, audit support, and advanced Excel.

Job stability is critical: candidates should have no more than 3 jobs in the last 10 years OR no more than 3 jobs since graduating college.
