Job description

As an Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Engineer, you are the primary escalation point for Data Center Technicians within your assigned region. You are an expert at troubleshooting hardware-based problems including but not limited to: server level hardware, fiber and copper cable paths, networking equipment, and related problems. You have an interest in the services used to maintain and manage hardware within the datacenter.

You use this knowledge and excellent communication skills to work with multiple internal teams to troubleshoot and solve complex problems for our customers. You enjoy leading several projects at once and love to learn and be curious. This position will support multiple separate sites.
ADC Engineering combines operational support and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant services and systems dedicated to U.S

Government customers. ADC Engineers ensures that AWS services - both our internally and externally-visible services - continually raise the bar on security, availability, and scalability. Additionally, ADC Engineers keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems' capacity and performance.

Much of our focus is to optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. You will have the opportunity to manage the complex operational challenges of scale, which are unique to AWS, while using your expertise to work with other teams and engineers to drive large-scale system decisions.
ADC Engineering's culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving, and openness is critical to its success. Our organization brings together people with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives

We encourage them to collaborate, think big and take risks in a fault-free environment. We promote self-direction to work on meaningful projects, while also striving to create an environment that provides the support and mentorship needed to learn and grow.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Key job responsibilities
- Deep dive escalated hardware issues and provide clear guidance to Data Center Technicians.
- Assess possible systemic issues then identify and work with the owning team(s) to solve complex problems at scale.
- Initiate service improvements in the production environment
- Perform incident response, event management, and blameless Correction of Errors processes.
- Automate common tasks and processes
- Work with other engineers to diagnose and resolve customer issues
- Track the health of our services, identify and fix problems on complex systems with massive scale
- Collaborate with some of the leading minds in distributed systems
A day in the life
AWS is a fast-paced environment where we "Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History." On a "typical" day engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with the other engineers, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.
About the team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why we strive for flexibility as part of our working culture

When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.
Here at AWS, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empower us to be proud of our differences.
