Procurement and Planning Manager

Stockton, CA | $110,000–$130,000 annually


Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement and Planning Manager to lead purchasing, production planning, inventory strategy, and material availability within a multi-site manufacturing environment. This individual will oversee a team of buyers and planners while partnering closely with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and leadership to ensure production requirements are met efficiently and customer commitments are achieved.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strong procurement experience with production planning, ERP/MRP knowledge, data-driven decision-making, and a continuous improvement mindset.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of buyers and production planners.
  • Build and manage production plans that support customer delivery requirements and operational goals.
  • Coordinate material, capacity, equipment, and inventory requirements based on production demand.
  • Manage purchasing activities, supplier relationships, RFPs, vendor qualification, pricing, quality, and lead times.
  • Develop forecasting and capacity plans in partnership with Sales and Operations.
  • Monitor planning, procurement, inventory, and manufacturing KPIs and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Identify potential material, labor, or production constraints and develop contingency plans.
  • Drive greater utilization and continuous improvement of ERP/MRP systems and planning tools.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, and other departments to resolve issues and prevent production delays.
  • Coach, train, and hold team members accountable for performance, accuracy, and execution.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, production planning, or a related manufacturing function.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of ERP and MRP systems.
  • Experience managing vendors, purchasing costs, inventory, forecasting, and production requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use data and KPIs to drive business decisions and operational improvements.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.


Compensation: $110,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience.
