Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced CNC Boring Mill Operator to join our machining team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating horizontal or vertical mills, can read and interpret engineering drawings, and understands what precision work looks like on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate CNC boring mills to machine complex workpieces to print
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, and work orders
• Select and mount tooling; set offsets and make in-process adjustments
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, CMM familiarity a plus)
• Monitor feeds, speeds, and tool wear; make corrections as needed
• Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventive maintenance
• Document work performed and flag non-conformances per shop quality procedures
• Collaborate with programmers and engineers on setup optimization and problem-solving
Requirements
• 3+ years of experience operating CNC boring mills (Devlieg, Kuraki, Amera-Seiki, or similar)
• Ability to read and work to tight tolerances (±.001" and tighter)
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools
• Solid understanding of cutting tool geometry, speeds/feeds, and material behavior
• Experience with Fanuc or Siemens controls preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with large-part/heavy workpiece setups
• Background in automotive or defense component machining
